From a young age, Lux was nothing short of gifted. With a natural knack for magic, she would often use her budding powers for practical jokes and was, generally speaking, a very jovial daughter. Born into the noble family of Crownguard, there were certain social obligations that she was expected to take part of, such as attending social gatherings. Being the bubbly young girl that she was, Lux thrived in these situations, charming others with her infectious attitude and voracious curiosity. She was a prodigy in her own right, different from her much older brother Garen, whom Lux had little interaction with--he was recruited by the Demacian military at an early age.
It was perhaps because of her family's social standings and the children's natural talents that, much like her brother, Lux was called to duty to serve for her home country of Demacia. The day that she was taken from her family, despite deep misgivings from her mother Lilia, is a large skeleton in her closet that the blond rarely acknowledges for many reasons and is, while severely suppressed, a driving force for why she came to join the League of Legends years afterward. The world of innocence was stripped away from her, replaced instead with an unwavering--and debatably artificially facilitated--allegiance to the country that took her childhood and a deep desire to walk beside her older brother only further ignited by the fires of passion she felt for her country.
Regardless of her reasoning for moving forward, Lux thrived in the magic academy, soon training and indoctrinating young cadets herself. She became a member of the special ops within Demacia's army, and through her achievements there was given the opportunity to live her dream: to walk the same path as her brother in the League of Legends.
Reincarnated History:
Luci is the second child of the Crownguard family, an upper class family with a very prestigious, decorated military background. Her older brother of eight years was sent away to attend Military Academy when Luci was only four, so many of her memories of her older brother are a conglomeration of stories told by her parents, grandparents and inflated ideas of grandiose that she holds for him.
While it is true that her parents--particularly her mother--were happy to welcome such a cheerful daughter into their lives, there is quite a bit of disappointment that she isn't a boy. Her father staying fairly distant partially due to his job working with the government, Luci rarely brings him up in conversation for many reasons. His expectations higher than normal due to her being a girl, in some ways there is unease there, despite her complete compliance with any and all decisions he makes concerning her upbringing; his judgment is not questioned and is instead regarded as law.
The only time his judgment has been called into question was when Luci turned twelve and he moved to have her admitted into a military academy for girls. While she idolized her brother who followed the same path, the prospect of it scared her, and she locked herself in her room, sobbing and refusing to leave. It was only until her mother, unsure of how such a place would treat their daughter, stepped in, striking a deal with her father: Luci would be allowed to stay in school instead of attending academy through junior and senior high school, contingent on the fact that she be admitted into The Citadel, an all-women’s military college, after graduation. Moreover, her activities would be micromanaged in order to facilitate that. Both parents agreed and Luci was put onto the path that she would be expected to walk for the rest of her life.
Attending Starling starting at age five, she was immediately pushed toward clubs and activities that would better prepare her for the road ahead: French Club and Lacrosse starting the first year of junior high, then adding Color Guard and Science Olympiads in her last year; she was also admitted into the National Honor Society, where she has been an active member from sixth grade onward.
Luci received her numbers shortly before her sixteenth birthday, receiving a message from her former life--one of privilege and unwavering allegiance to a land or person she did not know. Through piecing things together with another Numbered from her own world, Ez, she began to slowly work through what her former self (named Luxanna Crownguard) was and what she stood for.
Her trial by fire came during Halloween, at the residence of one Rachel Roth. A large group of Numbered gathered at her flat, it would seem that they had been watched, and an attack was launched. She, thankfully, made it out in one piece, although both extremely shaken and driven to figure out what was after them and, more importantly, get a handle on her newly acquired powers.
Hitting the ground running as soon as she figured out that she was not, in fact, crazy, and that there were others like herself, she began gathering information and contacts within the Numbered, working with Naomi to try to compile a list of echos and triggers that others had had. Through this, she came to know many other people, and became an active member of the Numbered's mission control.
It was through an ill-natured act by the redhead performer-moonlighting-as-a-numbered Zelos Wilder that Luci secured herself a short internship with the ThunderCorp, working in their public relations department to advertise for a winter Starlight Troupe performance. Hoping to be able to gather some kind of insider information through her connection, she was sadly left empty-handed, if not perhaps on their radar.
It would seem that, for the most part, luck had been on her side; despite the various hardships that the Numbered seemed to go through on a regular basis, she had been left relatively untouched. This luck would quickly change, however, when she, along with a number of the All-Star Pretty Cures, attempted to save one Jasmine Tsukuyomi. Injured in the ensuing battle, her resolve was shaken, and it took quite some time before she got her confidence back. It was not until Harper Sutherland, a new Numbered and one of Luci's best friends, was thrust into danger that she finally sprung back into action and, along with Ez, whisked her off to safety.
It would seem that she had finally shaken off the funk after the attack from the Blood Keys, however, shortly after that night, Luci lost her memories of what had happened in the last few months. Having taken steps beforehand in case such a thing did happen, she left herself notes, to give herself a general idea of what to expect from others. With the added tensions around Locke City, her family finally decided that it was time to leave, and in short order sold their house and moved from the city; they managed to get out shortly before the big attacks. As Locke City's big secret was brought into the forefront, and reports of pink lights in Las Vegas, something pulled at her. Even if she didn't remember anything, even if she no longer had any obligation to get involved with the happenings with the Numbered either in Locke City or else where, she felt compelled to do something.
Her bags had already been packed, so there was only one real option left to her.
Even if she couldn't remember anything, something pulled her to do something. The girl who made plans within plans within plans did something spontaneous: She left. Packing what she could in a few roller suitcases and buying a greyhound ticket with her savings, she made her way back to the city that had changed her life in ways she couldn't--but wanted to--remember. It was during her return trip to Locke City, once within city limits, seeing things in the state that they were, that things came flooding back to her all at once.
First Echo:
During the end of September, Luci began to notice a few of her classmates acting a bit... oddly. Those who were usually vivacious and attentive seemed to, at times, completely drop off. It was during one of those times, while in conversation with one of her classmates, that a strange but familiar phrase popped into Luci's head:
'To fight for justice in the name of Demacia.'
With it, a strange feeling washed over her; privilege, prestige, and above all else allegiance. While she couldn't place where she had heard this phrase before--let alone what this 'Demacia' might have been--she knew right away that it was extremely important.
(This phrase, like many found here --scroll down to the military section, unfortunately there is no direct link--are part of what is called The Measured Tread, a tool used within the Demacian military to indoctrinate its students into obediance under the Demacian flag.)
Echos received since her initial joining
Preincarnation Personality:
On the surface, Lux is all smiles, the light in a world of darkness, and was for many people in Demacia a beacon of light and hope that they often looked up to. Jovial and outgoing, she strives to inspire the best out of all around her, and while she can be a bit eccentric, for many she is a leader and one to look up to.
But in the presence of light, we can find even the darkest of shadows; Lux is certainly no exception.
As a child, Lux was in many ways a delightful prankster. Highly intelligent, extremely versatile, and more than willing to show it, she was known to use her light magic to surprise and delight others. She in many ways was and still is quite the performer, loving to be praised and thrust into the limelight. This much has not changed, and while she may not be the little trickster that she was before attending the magic college, she thrives in social situations, fluttering about and making certain she's talked to everyone at least once. Given her somewhat unorthodox and sheltered upbringing, however, she can come off as a bit... odd for lack of a better term (her laugh command in-game is shrill and awkward, and most of her joke commands are often quite odd).
Not only socially adapt in some sense of the word, Lux is very intelligent. Something that sets her apart from her peers is her ability to learn, often with little more than through observation, as well as adaptation. Lux applies what she learns and makes it her own, making her a force to be reckoned with not only on the battlefield but also the classroom. However, she does not use this talent to question things such as authority, seeing it as absolute; good will rise over evil, justice will be served. The world is very black and white for this blond, and dealing with gray morality is a struggle for her. Fiercely loyal, Lux does not go back on her word. Ever. It goes against everything that she stands for.
This is where she runs into trouble. Subjected to severe indoctrination for the purpose of creating a loyal soldier of Demacia, Lux can recite reasons for why she's so loyal to her country as well as why she wants to join the League, but the true reasons are often hidden far within herself--so far that oftentimes she is left unaware. Being torn away from home and security did something to her, broke something, and often she refuses to acknowledge that the real reason she keeps going, why she keeps smiling, is because she knows no other way to live. Striving to be like her brother, join the League and walk among other heroes, is the only thing she can think to grasp at anymore, her innocence and wonder--and in many ways herself--lost years ago. In some ways what is left is a shell of her former self, of a happy, inquisitive and loving young girl who idolized her other brother and was excited about her newly-budding gift of magic.
Any differences:
The biggest difference is that, instead of being unable to do anything when she was to be sent away, Luci's mother fought. While she only managed to come up with a compromise, this actually has had a lasting impact on Luci's development.
Without the indoctrination of the Demacian army, Luci does possess free will, however finds it hard exercising this. Her father's word is law, and, until this point, she has had little to no opportunity to question it. As she has grown older, however, she has started to become conflicted; she would never openly state this, however.
Unlike her previous incarnation, Luci is more welcome to entertain the notion of gray morality. She still very firmly believes that good will triumph over evil, but sometimes the lines of good and evil aren't as clear.
The presence of her mother gives way to another stark difference in her life: stability. While her father is cold and in many ways seems uncaring, Lilian--Luci's mother--does her best to act as a sounding board, and because of that Luci is not nearly as lonely as her former self was. It's still hard for her to go to her mother with problems, but it is very likely that even without that little bit of support that Luci would have broken under the pressure of expectations long before.

Ability list
Lux's specialty is in light magic and creating illusions. Classified as a controller, she can use her light magic to both help her comrades and hinder her enemies, as well as put on the hurt when the need arises. Moreover, she has been known to take spells that she's seen and either modify them to her needs or outright steal them (as seen with her Light Binding, which is a spell she took and improved from another League member, Morgana)
Illumination: When Lux hits one of her opponents with a spell, she temporarily marks them with a beacon of light. Acting almost like a magical bomb, it activates when she hits her opponent again with either a basic light spell or her ultimate technique, Final Spark.
Light Binding: A spell she modified from another person, she snares an opponent in place. This spell can hit multiple targets, but it loses its efficacy with each person it hits. This also marks her opponents with her Illumination.
Prismatic Barrier: Lux's main protection spell, which she can cast on multiple people within a close vicinity, herself included. With a limited duration, it can absorb partial damage for a very short amount of time.
Lucent Singularity: Lux's main offensive attack, she throws out a prismatic ball of light which she can detonate from a distance; the blast radius on it is small, but this spell can hit multiple targets. Like her Light Binding spell, this also marks her opponents with Illumination.
Final Spark: A full body prismatic laser with insane range. It does take her time to charge it, but is extremely potent, especially when coupled with Illumination.
Other Abilities: Lux is able to use her light magic to create illusions, do damage and, most notably, stealth herself by refracting light around herself.
Roleplay Sample - Third Person:
"Well, the actual speed of light is approximately 299,792,458 metres per second, or about 186,287.49 miles per second, but most simplify it to 186,000 miles per second. So, given that information, and taking into account solar winds, the rough size of our solar system is about 0.0013 lightyears. Give or take, of course."
Putting her pencil down, equation neatly scribbled out in front of her in her notebook, Luci smiled across the table at her classmate. She was flattered that the girl had approached her to help study for the upcoming exam, and while she would never admit it, she was thankful for the company. The idea of sitting at home alone with nothing but textbooks and the reheated leftovers of Sunday's stew sounded wholly unappealing. Her father would not be home until much later in the evening, and her mother was scheduled for the night shift at the hospital.
Waiting for a response, she was met with a blank stare. Had she talked over someone's head again. Taking it in stride, she rubbed the back of her neck. "Okay then, maybe we should call it a night. We've been going at this pretty hard. If you want, you can stay for dinner! You must be pretty hungry."
Shaking her head, the girl declined, and with it Luci's spirits sunk a little bit. At least with the company, she would have an excuse to cook; it seemed that it would be yet another lonely night in the Edwards house. "Oh, yeah it's kind of late huh? If you need any help just call me, okay? I'll be around."
She was always around, in some sense of the word at least.
Seeing her classmate off, the door closed and the blond deflated, shoulders resting against the frame and blue-socked toes twiddling and fingers interlocked in front of her. No one ever seemed to want to stay, and it hurt a bit. She understood, knowing that feeling all too well. Maybe things would be better once she left, but would she really get to see the world through a different lens other than that of privilege? Would she be able to live?
Pushing herself up, she shrugged her morose and mental fatigue off as best as she could. "All right," She yawned, stretching a bit, "I should probably get my own work done. It's not going to do itself. Time waits for no one, right?"

Hello? Can anyone see this right now? Can you see me?
[Luci waves her hands at the camera.]
Hi there! My name's Luci, I'm a sophomore at Starling, and self-proclaimed welcoming committee! I heard that there are a few of you that are finally starting to figure out that there are some weird things going on around here, so I thought I'd offer my help.
I just "awakened" if you could call it that myself, so not everything's totally crystal clear, but I can tell you what I know. And if I don't know it, I can probably tell you someone who does.
Oh, right, I almost forgot. To anybody I met the last time I'm thinking it might be time for some of us to meet up and talk business. See if maybe any of our memories or powers are similar. It's better to act in numbers. Oh, but Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays don't really work for me, I'm pretty busy. What works for everybody else?
