CHARACTER INFO

Character Name: Lux Crownguard
Character Canon: League of Legends

History: Link

From a young age, Lux was nothing short of gifted. With a natural knack for magic, she would often use her budding powers for practical jokes and was, generally speaking, a very jovial daughter. Born into the noble family of Crownguard, there were certain social obligations that she was expected to take part of, such as attending social gatherings. Being the bubbly young girl that she was, Lux thrived in these situations, charming others with her infectious attitude and voracious curiosity. She was a prodigy in her own right, different from her much older brother Garen, whom Lux had little interaction with--he was recruited by the Demacian military at an early age.

It was perhaps because of her family's social standings and the children's natural talents that, much like her brother, Lux was called to duty to serve for her home country of Demacia. The day that she was taken from her family, despite deep misgivings from her mother Lilia, is a large skeleton in her closet that the blond rarely acknowledges for many reasons and is, while severely suppressed, a driving force for why she came to join the League of Legends years afterward. The world of innocence was stripped away from her, replaced instead with an unwavering--and debatably artificially facilitated--allegiance to the country that took her childhood and a deep desire to walk beside her older brother only further ignited by the fires of passion she felt for her country.

Regardless of her reasoning for moving forward, Lux thrived in the magic academy, soon training and indoctrinating young cadets herself. She became a member of the special ops within Demacia's army, and through her achievements there was given the opportunity to live her dream: to walk the same path as her brother in the League of Legends.

AU History: Luxanna was second child born to Aldert and Lilia Crownguard, and only daughter that the bloodline has seen for three generations. The Crownguard family, once a large and powerful house that claimed direct ties to the great warrior, has been in decline, and while their influence is still felt within the Sword of the Savior, their favor within Union has waned over the years. It is because of this that, shortly after her birth, she was promised to the Flourite family and their son, Fai. As a result, the two were raised together, and instead of love blossoming there, the two became close as siblings, much to their families' chagrin.

Excelling early at school, Lux quickly moved through even the most advanced of classes and, at the age of thirteen, was admitted into the university, where she thrived. Learning to hone her Enlightened abilities, which manifested themselves when she was only a child, she graduated at sixteen. While her dream was to be a member of the Sword of the Savior like her brother and cousin Ky, it was not meant to be; her father simply would not allow it, given her position within the family as well as her betrothal.

She currently lives at home, with her family, taking further etiquette classes from a family friend's personal tutor.

Canon Personality: On the surface, Lux is all smiles, the light in a world of darkness, and was for many people in Demacia a beacon of light and hope that they often looked up to. Jovial and outgoing, she strives to inspire the best out of all around her, and while she can be a bit eccentric, for many she is a leader and one to look up to.

But in the presence of light, we can find even the darkest of shadows; Lux is certainly no exception.

As a child, Lux was in many ways a delightful prankster. Highly intelligent, extremely versatile, and more than willing to show it, she was known to use her light magic to surprise and delight others. She in many ways was and still is quite the performer, loving to be praised and thrust into the limelight. This much has not changed, and while she may not be the little trickster that she was before attending the magic college, she thrives in social situations, fluttering about and making certain she's talked to everyone at least once. Given her somewhat unorthodox and sheltered upbringing, however, she can come off as a bit... odd for lack of a better term (her laugh command in-game is shrill and awkward, and most of her joke commands are often quite odd).

Not only socially adapt in some sense of the word, Lux is very intelligent. Something that sets her apart from her peers is her ability to learn, often with little more than through observation, as well as adaptation. Lux applies what she learns and makes it her own, making her a force to be reckoned with not only on the battlefield but also the classroom. However, she does not use this talent to question things such as authority, seeing it as absolute; good will rise over evil, justice will be served. The world is very black and white for this blond, and dealing with gray morality is a struggle for her. Fiercely loyal, Lux does not go back on her word. Ever. It goes against everything that she stands for.

This is where she runs into trouble. Subjected to severe indoctrination for the purpose of creating a loyal soldier of Demacia, Lux can recite reasons for why she's so loyal to her country as well as why she wants to join the League, but the true reasons are often hidden far within herself--so far that oftentimes she is left unaware. Being torn away from home and security did something to her, broke something, and often she refuses to acknowledge that the real reason she keeps going, why she keeps smiling, is because she knows no other way to live. Striving to be like her brother, join the League and walk among other heroes, is the only thing she can think to grasp at anymore, her innocence and wonder--and in many ways herself--lost years ago. In some ways what is left is a shell of her former self, of a happy, inquisitive and loving young girl who idolized her other brother and was excited about her newly-budding gift of magic.

AU Deviation: Brave New World Lux is actually fairly similar to original canon as far as her outward personality is concerned; she is inquisitive and bubbly, as we as just a bit eccentric due to her upbringing and socialization through schooling. The most notable difference between AU and OU Lux is her lack of deep-seeded anger and hatred for her family. In original canon, she is sent away against her will to the Demacian army, and while BNW Lux does not like her fate, she lacks the severe amount of indoctrination and abuse that she underwent while at the Magic Academy in Demacia. Instead, she is left with a feeling of obligation and the weight associated with it.

Canon Abilities: Link

Lux's specialty is in light magic and creating illusions. Classified as a controller, she can use her light magic to both help her comrades and hinder her enemies, as well as put on the hurt when the need arises. Moreover, she has been known to take spells that she's seen and either modify them to her needs or outright steal them (as seen with her Light Binding, which is a spell she took and improved from another League member, Morgana)

Illumination: When Lux hits one of her opponents with a spell, she temporarily marks them with a beacon of light. Acting almost like a magical bomb, it activates when she hits her opponent again with either a basic light spell or her ultimate technique, Final Spark.

Light Binding: A spell she modified from another person, she snares an opponent in place. This spell can hit multiple targets, but it loses its efficacy with each person it hits. This also marks her opponents with her Illumination.

Prismatic Barrier: Lux's main protection spell, which she can cast on multiple people within a close vicinity, herself included. With a limited duration, it can absorb partial damage for a very short amount of time.

Lucent Singularity: Lux's main offensive attack, she throws out a prismatic ball of light which she can detonate from a distance; the blast radius on it is small, but this spell can hit multiple targets. Like her Light Binding spell, this also marks her opponents with Illumination.

Final Spark: A full body prismatic laser with insane range. It does take her time to charge it, but is extremely potent, especially when coupled with Illumination.

Other Abilities: Lux is able to use her light magic to create illusions, do damage and, most notably, stealth herself by refracting light around herself.

Enlightened Abilities: As an Enlightened, Lux's typing will be Psychic/Fairy and her special skill is Analyst.

When first starting out, Lux will have access to her very rudimentary light-based attacks, focusing mostly on the support aspects of them. While her magic cannot be used offensively, she is able to root her foes in place--provided she can snare them with one of her prismatic orbs--as well as use her powers to shield others. A strange side-effect to using her snare, however, is that it will illuminate whatever it hits for a short duration of time. She is also able to throw out harmless, prismatic balls of light to illuminate other areas, which also leave a residual glow.

At her first evolution, Lux will receive an offensive upgrade, gaining a very simple, short-ranged magical attack. In addition, her snare and prismatic orb will be able to do damage to her opponents, the orb taking a bit more time to set up. What is more interesting that, when an opponent that is illuminated is hit by her basic attack, it will do more damage as the light seems to explode on them.

At her second evolution, Lux will receive her special attack, a long-range beam attack similar to Hyper Beam. This takes some time to set up, and can be easily avoided if one is fast enough (it has a very distinct tell of where light is drawing toward).

Starter Pokémon: A Dratini named Camille.

Notes/Special Considerations: N/A

SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)

First-Person: A number of different samples can be found here
Third-Person: It felt like they had been walking in hours. Shrugging her shoulders, Lux hoisted her pack higher on her back with an exhausted grunt, trying not to look or sound too tortured. It felt like these trees would never end, towering above them like giants, blocking any sign of the sun; for all she knew, it could have been night out.

"I believe," She started, already dreading opening her mouth, "I believe that we may be lost." There, it was out there, in the open. Still, she winced, knowing well that stating the obvious would do little to no good here.

And sure enough, her companion--a man she had met along one of the few roads outside of Union--reassured her that he knew where they were going, and that they need only hold out just a bit longer. Giving something of a tired smile as they continued on, in the back of her mind she began to question her judgment. Should she have been so trusting and followed this man who, until just a few hours ago she never knew existed? What if he knew who she was, and only wanted to get her far enough away from the city where they couldn't find her? Did that sort of thing happen anywhere other than in books?

She was probably going to find out. Lux shuddered.

Trudging through the overgrowth, the clearing came suddenly, and the blond stopped. A small shrine stood in front of them, untouched for who knew how long, stone stained green and a ring of flowers flowing out from the base. Her breath caught in her chest, not at the beauty of the scene, or the thought that, at last, they were out of that godsforsaken forest. "Amazing. Simply amazing!" She exclaimed in an excited whisper, taking everything that she could to not rush in and investigate. She wanted to see touch, smell, experience everything, and were it not for the fact that her companion suddenly held her back, she would be there, sketching and taking everything in.

Some people simply did not know how to have fun.
